Neart na Machairi

Over two years, this project brings together members of the community to explore what makes the maharees tombolo special, how it is changing under the twin pressures of climate change and biodiversity loss, and what new perspectives and actions we can engage with to support and protect this home and way of life.   

Combining scientific research, artistic processes and local knowledge, we will explore how a creative approach can facilitate new ways of connecting to each other and our place, ultimately supporting us to co-create a vision and an adaption plan for the future of Maharees that we can all contribute to.

The aim of this project is to build upon the existing Strength of the Maharees (Neart na Machairí) through an exploration of how the community can prepare for the future in order to be resilient, engaged, equipped and well-placed to adapt to climate change.
